Yeah. Chara told me about the war. There was never a war between the land monsters and the sea monsters, but— sea monsters usually stay away from the surface, because humans hunt sea monsters where I'm from. Most people think land monsters are just out to do murders, y'know? I mean, I like humans, and I know they're not all like that... I moved to the human town right before I showed up here, and I know this human guy — Massimo — he, uh... took me in, sorta? He was my boss at the pescheria. He used to hunt sea monsters until he realized me and Luca were sea monsters, cuz we were friends with his daughter — Giulia — so... the village kinda— changed after I moved there, once everyone found out...
But... Just cuz the humans eventually accepted me there, that doesn't mean this place is safe. Besides, you never know what kind of person might show up here. Signora Della never even met humans before she arrived here, there were no humans where she's from, she told me — but even as a sky monster, she still hates sea monsters, I guess. So... I'd rather just... play in the snow in private. With you and Chara. You guys get it. We can have fun together, heh~
[ Easily the most serious and somber Alberto has ever sounded in return, revealing a certain darkness to his past he's never shared with Asriel before, ironic as it is to reveal it just to enable a snowball fight. But Asriel's candor is validating and refreshing, and opens an important discussion, one that's maybe quite crucial as to why Alberto presents as human at all times here, unless he's at the beach alone in the middle of the night with Asriel or something. It's because... he's scared. He'd never, ever say it like that. But that's the bottom line, reading between the lines. He has extremely shaky trust in others. Y'know, not to call him disgusting and potentially attack him with harpoons, that kind of thing. ]
