... I didn't, though. Even if they wanted to hurt me -- I never wanted to hurt them.

( He regretted that for a long time, because of the end result. But, he also knows that there's no point to doing that now. )

Hey, Asriel. What's a monster in your world?

Monsters are... creatures made out of magic. We're really differently from humans because of that.

We're a lot weaker than humans though. When there was a war between humans and monsters... monsters didn't really stand a chance against humans. B-But, if a human dies, a monster can take a human's SOUL and become really powerful. People were really scared of that, and... that's why a war broke out in the first place.

All monsters really want is to live in peace... We never wanted to hurt anyone like that.

Huh... that's really different. In my world, you wouldn't be any different from a normal person.

[He shakes his head, frowning.]

So... humans attacked you, but you didn't want to hurt them?

People in your world... are made of magic...?

( It's a little unique to what he knows, but he can't help but wonder if there's less conflict as a result. )

Yeah... actually, it was a guy around your age and height too. There was a whole... thing though.

... Thank you, Zidane. I regretted it for a long time, but... a friend taught me that not fighting back was the right thing to do.

[In Asriel's world, given how it works, yeah, it would've been dangerous if he had. While maybe not entirely bad, that interpretation is usually left to the survivor.]

I think so, too. They... really saved me. But, they saved a lot of people from home.
